Baking with Spelt

img_2096All bakers are invited to the third class in our popular fall series.  On Dec. 10th in the Fellowship Hall at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church (6700 W. 83rd in Westchester, CA) we’ll focus on the wonders and challenges of baking with Spelt flour, including 100% spelt sourdough bread, quick breads, and pastries.  We will mix and shape our sourdough loaves with sprouted spelt or porridge added and coat the top of the loaves with spelt flakes.  For our afternoon snack, we’ll bake some delicious spelt pastries.  Class begins at 9:45 with a discussion of the wonders of spelt and how easy it is to use and maintain a sourdough starter.

The Westchester Community Oven will be fired during this class, so we’ll be preparing pizzas for baking during our lunch break.  Please bring your favorite pizza dough and toppings–or salad fixings– for lunch. Class will conclude at 3PM.   To RSVP for this class click here.
