On February 12 at 8:30 a.m. I met with Debbie Harding at the Olympic High School garden in Santa Monica. Debbie is the garden coordinator for all the Santa Monica schools. At Olympic H.S. the students earn points toward graduate by working in the garden. On the day of my visit, they prepared the soil and planted lettuce seeds and a few tomatoes. A Santa Monica restaurant is interested by buying their locally grown gourmet lettuces.
It was a very productive morning, and the students had fun working with the soil and enlarging the garden which is easily seen from Ocean Park at 7th.
